Chaos in Ikorodu as Soldiers invade community

Ikorodu as been one of the most busy areas in Lagos in the last few days as many people troop to the town which is located in the outskirts of the state for the Sallah celebrations. However, as they look to depart the town for their various places of abode and work early on Thursday they were met with a bit of a hold up.

There was an early morning face-off between Nigerian soldiers and suspected cultists at Solomada Estate area of Ikorodu on Thursday.

Trouble started when the suspected cultists allegedly attacked and killed a soldier.

In retaliation, reports said soldiers besieged the estate in search of the suspected killers of the military man.

No reports as to whether the soldiers have found the killer of their colleague but residents are now living in fear as they believe the situation could escalate as long as the soldiers remain in the community.

The residents on the estate are calling relevant authorities to prevail on the soldiers and ask them to call off their revenge mission. While many understand the pain of the soldiers, it is they advise them to seek a much judicious of justice and not result to self held as it could lead to further unrest.

Ikorodu is a city in north-east Lagos State, Nigeria. It is located along the Lagos Lagoon and shares a boundary with Ogun State. At the 2006 census the population was 535,619.
