Wilfred Ndidi scored but saw his effort ruled out for offside as Leicester came from behind to beat Tottenham 2-1 at the King Power Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Harry Kane put Spurs in front with a fine finish, but Ricardo Perreira leveled for Leicester in the second half. And towards the end of the game, James Maddison scored with a brilliant effort to earn all three points for the Foxes.

Both teams came into the match on the back of different results from the last round of matches. While Spurs were impressive in the 4-0 bashing of Crystal Palace, Leicester were beaten 1-0 at Old Trafford by Manchester United but the start of the game suggested both sides were on level footing.

Leicester, starting out in their preferred 4-1-4-1 formation, played high up the pitch in a man-oriented pressing to restrict Tottenham from passing out from the back. It worked a treat in the opening stages, as the Foxes forced the Spurs’ defenders into making errors, although none severe enough to result in a goal.

But the first chance of the game would come in the 14^th minute when James Maddison found some space on the edge of the box after some nice individual play and curled a shot in on goal, but the ball flew just wide of the right post.

But in the 17^th minute, Wilfred Ndidi thought he had put Leicester in front when he scored off a goalmouth scramble, but their celebrations were quickly cut short after referee Paul Tierney signals NO GOAL following the VAR review due to an offside.

But on 29 minutes, an amazing individual effort from Kane ended with a strike from inside the penalty area. He sends the ball precisely into the top left corner and makes it 0:1. Kasper Schmeichel was helpless.

And as half time approached, Kane received a precise low pass inside the box, controlled the ball and drilled it to the middle of the goal, but Schmeichel made a comfortable save to stop his effort.

And after the break, in the 57^th minute, Jamie Vardy produced a promising shot towards the bottom right corner after his wonderful solo run, but Paulo Gazzaniga thwarted him with a fabulous save.

Tottenham were beginning to look very dangerous and on 65 minutes, Serge Aurier thought he had doubled Spurs’ lead when he found the back of the net but after reviewing the VAR, the referee ruled the goal out for offside.

But just four minutes later, Ricardo Pereira was in the right place at the right time to get to the rebound inside the box and gleefully rifled the ball low inside the right post.

The goal brought out the best in the Foxes, as Brendan Rodgers’ men looked on the surge and on 86 minutes, Maddison took a great first touch to control a killer pass on the edge of the box and drilled a shot into the bottom left corner in trademark fashion.

And that goal would prove the difference between both sides, as Leicester bounced back from last week’s defeat to Manchester United.
