VIDEO: ‘My haters will keep seeing me here’- What Ronaldo said about Messi

Cristiano Ronaldo told his haters: “you’re going to keep seeing me here”, as Virgil Vcan Dijk was voted Europe’s best player of the year on Thursday evening.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have both dominated football for the last 15 years and Ronaldo expects it to continue for a little while longer.

Ronaldo spent the best part of the night in a conversation with eternal rival and Barcelona star Lionel Messi and in a candid, fun interview, Ronaldo even went as far as to say he’d like to get dinner with Messi at some point. Both were up for UEFA Male Player of the Year — an award that went to Liverpool’s Van Dijk, but fans were given an inside look at their rivalry — all on positive terms.

Messi has been the biggest rival to Ronaldo since 2008 and even though neither of them won the European player of the year award on Thursday, their rivalry looks set to continue.

Ronaldo and Messi had battles between Real Madrid and Barcelona for nearly 10 years before Ronaldo left for Juventus last summer. Ronaldo talked about how they pushed each other to always get better while saying they had never had dinner together. Take a look: “Of course we have a good relationship. We have not had a dinner together yet, but I hope in the future,” Ronaldo said.

“He pushed me and I pushed him as well. It’s great to be a part of the history of football. I am there, and of course, he is as well.”

And when asked if he would be retiring next year, Ronaldo said: “the people who don’t like me will keep seeing me here.
