CORRUPTION: NFF bosses finally detained by EFCC

General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and 2nd Vice President, Shehu Dikko have been grilled and briefly detained by anti-corruption agency, EFCC, over alleged mismanagement of sponsorship monies running into billions of Naira, according to scorenigeria.com.ng.

They were later granted administrative bail.

NFF General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi has reportedly been detained by the EFCC over allegations of financial mismanagement.

“Both Dikko and Sanusi were being grilled by EFCC by the time I clocked out of the agency’s Lagos office on Monday,” NANF president Harrison Jalla informed SCORENigeria.

NFF 2nd Vice President, Shehu Dikko, is also reported to have been grilled and detained by the EFCC.

Both officials were given appointments to appear at the EFCC Lagos office this week for questioning after investigations began into the case this month.

The officials in question as well as NFF president Amaju Pinnick, 1st vice president Seyi Akinwunmi and executive committee member Ahmed Yusuf ‘Fresh’ have also been charged to court by SPIP for alleged embezzlement of $8.4 million paid to Nigeria for the country’s participation at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

NFF president Amaju Pinnick is also alleged to have mismanaged funds meant for the football body.

NFF marketing agent Mike Itemuagbor was recently a guest of the EFCC in Lagos for two days in respect of this case, while former NFF director of finance Fadanari Mamza has been in the custody of the anti-graft agency for almost a month now, the report claims.

He is one of three NFF account department staffers already charged by EFCC for the alleged theft of over $10 million being grants from FIFA and CAF for the development of football in Nigeria.
