Champions League: Gianluigi Buffon reveals what PSG players must do to beat Manchester United

Gianluigi Buffon has warned his Paris Saint-Germain teammates they will need a better mentality and attitude if they are to beat Manchester United on Tuesday night. United were huge outsiders when the draw was made last year due to their poor form, but, a change of manager and a run of 11 games unbeaten means Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side now go in to the game on a level pegging with the French champions.Image result for gianluigi buffon psg getty images

While United recorded a convincing 3-0 win against Fulham at the weekend Thomas Tuchel’s side earned a narrow 1-0 win over Bordeaux on Saturday and Buffon has warned his teammates they must improve ahead of the last 16 first leg clash at Old Trafford. “I appreciated the victory but I did not like the match,” Buffon said after the game. Related image

“We have to improve mentally and in our attitude, to have more of a spirit of sacrifice for the team. On Tuesday we have a very important match and we will have to do better. I believe we have to get better in everything because we will play against a team and in a stadium which will oblige us to be more solid and have a different attitude.”Image result for gianluigi buffon psg getty images

Tuchel also finds himself in the midst of an injury crisis with Neymar ruled out along with right back Thomas Meunier. Edinson Cavani, who scored PSG’s only goal from the penalty spot on Saturday, is also a big doubt after coming off injured in the win. Tuchel will face the media on Monday evening and will be able to give an update on his players’ availability.Gianluigi Buffon.

Manchester United have collected 10 wins from an 11-game unbeaten run with an interim boss at the helm. The Red Devils have already beaten Arsenal in the FA cup and Tottenham in the Premier League. Solskjaer and his team have restored belief heading into a testing sequence of fixtures. The first of those is set to see them face PSG on Tuesday in the first leg of a heavyweight Champions League last-16 encounter.Image result for gianluigi buffon psg getty images

Former Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini said of that contest: “I think Manchester United are the favourites. With the confidence, they have at the moment, and how they play, I think they are favourites. But it’s a Champions League match, in the round of 16, so it’ll be 50-50. PSG have great players but they have two or three players injured. I think Manchester United have the advantage.”
