Thomas Partey was at his usual best for Atletico Madrid as he provided an assist in their 2-0 win over Getafe in the Spanish La Liga on Saturday afternoon. The Rojiblanco lived up to their favourites tag when they dominated and defeated Getafe in week 21 of the Spanish league at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Antoine Griezmann fetched the opener for the hosts in the 27th minute with a low finish on the edge of the box after he was beautifully set-up by Thomas Partey’s sleek through pass. Diego Simeone’s men sealed the victory 10 minutes later after a rebound fell kindly to Saul Niguez who fired home from close range. Partey lasted the entire duration of the match as the Madrid-based side picked their 44th-point of the campaign.
Manchester City are eyeing Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey for this month’s market. City boss Pep Guardiola has been open about signing cover for Fernandinho and the Manchester Evening News says Partey fits the bill.
The midfielder has complained about a lack of regular action under coach Diego Simeone, though has insisted he is committed to Atletico. Partey, 25, is contracted to Atletico Madrid through to 2023. Along with City, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain are also keen.
