Tottenham set to sign Barcelona flop Malcom as replacement for injured Harry Kane

Tottenham Hotspur are considering a swoop for Malcom amid fears Harry Kane could be out for up to four weeks, according to reports. Mauricio Pochettino could be forced to sign a new striker this month after the England skipper injured his ankle during the defeat to Manchester United. Malcom has scored two goals in ten appearances for Barcelona this season, Kane fears he could miss the next seven games and striker Son Heung-Min is away on international duty at the Asian Cup.

According to the Daily Star, Pochettino is weighing up a loan move for the Barcelona forward to strengthen his squad. Malcom, 21, has failed to live up to expectations at the Nou Camp following his £36.5million switch from Bordeaux in July.

And it is understood that the club are willing to let him leave as he has made just four starts this season.Harry Kane limped off the pitch after the defeat to Manchester United, Malcom has also been linked to Chelsea, but the Blues rejected an offer from Barcelona to swap Willian for Malcom plus cash.

Spurs look set to reignite their interest in the 21-year-old after they failed to snap him up last summer. Kane, who has scored 14 goals for Spurs in the Premier League this season, will find out the extent of his injury when he has a scan today. The England skipper was unable to treated straight after the game because his ankle was too swollen. Malcom has failed to live up to expectations since he joined Barcelona last year
