Unai Emery’s mood at the Emirates Stadium was lifted following news of Mesut Ozil and Hector Bellerin being among six Arsenal players who returned to training on Wednesday ahead of Saturday’s game at West Ham United. Laurent Koscielny also returned to training, having pulled out of Arsenal’s FA Cup clash at Blackpool just minutes before kick-off because of a back injury.
Also back are Shkodran Mustafi and Nacho Monreal who were out with hamstring injuries, and Dinos Mavropanos who was sidelined with a groin injury since November. Ozil on his part sat out the defeat at Liverpool and the victories over Fulham and Blackpool with a knee injury while Bellerin has been out since injuring his calf in the 3-2 defeat by Southampton on December 16.
That leaves England internationals, Danny Welbeck and Rob Holding, as among the handful of Arsenal stars who are still recovering from surgery after suffering ankle and knee injuries respectively. Both players are not expected to play a part of Arsenal’s campaign this season. Also, Armenian attacking midfielder, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, is expected to rejoin full training next month following a foot injury.
