Kwara United Football Club on Friday in Ilorin unveiled 18 new players ahead of the 2018/2019 Nigeria Professional Football League season. Among the new players are: Oki Olaoluwa from Kwara United Feeders Team, Kehinde Olajuyin from Ekiti United and Yusuf Muhammad from Kano Pillars.

Others are Kenneth Okoli from FC IfeanyiUbah, Muhammad Hussaini from Katsina United and Sunday Emmanuel from Sunshine Stars Football Club. At the unveiling ceremony, the Chairman of Kwara United Football Club, Oladimeji Thompson, said the new players were carefully recruited based on their good track records and in line with ideals and philosophy of the founding fathers of the club.

Thompson, who explained that 13 players were retained from the crop of players who featured last season, called on the new players to support the vision of the Club. The Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Alhaji Muideen Alalade, said the state government had invested huge money on Kwara United Football Club to enable it to make the state proud.

He urged the players to live up to expectations of the people by winning all their matches and earn continental tickets. Alalade also said government had given absolute freedom to the management of the Club to select quality players, saying that there was no justification for failure.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Alhaji Sulaiman Olokooba, called on the players to secure continental ticket. Responding on behalf of the new players, Solomon Owello said the players were aware of the task before them and would give the state the best it deserved.

The occasion also featured the showcasing of the club’s Feeder team, which recently gained promotion to the Nigeria National League from Nationwide League.
