After completing the transfer of Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund who will join the Blues after this season, Chelsea are reportedly looking to table a £36m bid for PSV Eindhoven striker Hirving Lozano, reports say. The Mexico international would be the Blues’ second signing of the January transfer window after they landed Christian Pulisic for £57.5m. Lozano, 23, has scored 34 goals in 64 games for the Dutch side since arriving from Pachuca in 2017.
Although generally deployed on the left wing, Lozano can also play on the right or as a central striker. Lozano, popularly known by his nickname Chucky, could slot straight into the Italian’s line up. And Calciomercato report that Chelsea are lining up an official approach. Lozano featured at last summer’s World Cup for Mexico. He was one of their standout performers, scoring the winner in a famous win over holders Germany.Chelsea are mooted to be trying to bring in a striker in the current window too. Gonzalo Higuain is a target but his loan deal at AC Milan from Juventus is complicating matters. Sarri seems to have run out of patience with goal-shy frontman Alvaro Morata. A swap deal could be on the cards which would see the Spaniard exchange places with Higuain.
Chelsea face an FA Cup clash with Nottingham Forest tomorrow at Stamford Bridge. “I’m not in charge of the market,” said Sarri after the recent stalemate with Southampton. I have to try to improve my players, my team, my offensive phase, or better my offensive phase in the last 20 metres. The club knows my position, my opinion. It’s up to the board.”
