Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr wants this Bayern Munich star for the longer-term

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr wants Bayern Munich to give Franck Ribéry a new deal in order to continue his long stay at the club. The president of Bayern Munich, Uli Hoeness suggested earlier this month that the former France international will hang up his boots at the end of the season. But Rohr thinks that Ribéry is still going strong as demonstrated with his four goals in his last three league games before the Bundesliga went on recess.

”For me there are no young and old players, only good and bad. And Ribéry is a good one,” said Rohr to German newspaper Mannheimer Morgen. Ribéry, who will be 36 on April 7, penned a contract extension with the German champions in May and the agreement runs out at the end of this season. Rohr has backed Bayern Munich to win the league though they trail Borussia Dortmund by six points at the halfway stage of the season.

The Frenchman recently became the oldest Bayern Munich player to score more than one goal in a Bundesliga game after he netted twice in a 3-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt.Aged 35 years and 259 days, the former France international slotted in Bayern’s opener midway through the first half before adding a second with a scuffed finish late on. Saturday’s performance could have been even more memorable for Ribery, had Robert Lewandowski not failed to control the veteran’s pass at the culmination of a superb run.
