Finally! Mourinho’s Man United favourite player breaks silence after his boss sacking

Jesse Lingard has become the first Manchester United player to comment on the decision to sack Jose Mourinho. Mourinho left United on Tuesday morning after a conversation with Ed Woodward, and was replaced by former player Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who will take charge until the end of the season.

United will then look to appoint a permanent manager in the summer as Solskjaer returns to Molde in Norway. United players have remained quiet on social media since the news of Mourinho’s sacking – aside from a deleted post by Paul Pogba who claims his controversial ‘caption this’ photo was a scheduled promotional post.

Related imageBut now Lingard has taken to Instagram to thank Mourinho for his management over the last two and a half seasons. Lingard established himself as an important first team player during that time, and scored the last goal of Mourinho’s reign in the 3-1 defeat to Liverpool.

The 26-year-old also broke into the England squad that reached the World Cup semi-finals in the summer. Lingard posted a picture of himself and Mourinho during a recent match, with the caption: “Thank you for the wisdom.”
