Who will be the new Manchester United manager? Zinedine Zidane, Laurent Blanc, Michael Carrick and Mauricio Pochettino have all been linked as Jose Mourinho’s replacement. Laurent Blanc is the new favourite to replace Jose Mourinho as the Manchester United manager.
Mourinho was sacked on Tuesday morning with United sat in sixth in the Premier League table following a dismal start to the season.
The club’s statement said: “Manchester United announces that manager Jose Mourinho has left the club with immediate effect. The club would like to thank Jose for his work during his time at Manchester United and to wish him success in the future. A new caretaker manager will be appointed until the end of the current season, while the club conducts a thorough recruitment process for a new, full-time manager.”
Michael Carrick will take training on Tuesday and Wednesday, with a manager until the end of the season set to be announced within the next two days. Gary Neville believes Mauricio Pochettino should be Mourinho’s permanent replacement.
“I said last season that the next manager of United should be Pochettino. Not because he’s done a good job at Tottenham. When you look at the values of United, you look at his use of young players. You look at the way in which he carries himself publicly and in private. For me he just feels like the most ideal candidate,” Neville told Sky Sports.
However, Zinedine Zidane, Zinedine Zidane and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer are all ahead of Pochettino in the running with bookmaker Betfred.
