Liverpool coach, Jurgen Klopp, has given an update on the availability of Senegal forward Sadio Mane as well as other injured Liverpool stars. Klopp was speaking at the pre-match press conference for the game to be played early on Saturday afternoon at the Vitality Stadium to kick off Matchday 16 of the Premier League.
According to Klopp, Mane remains a doubt for the tricky contest against seventh placed Bournemouth. He also commented on the status of Croatian defender, Dejan Lovren, as well as Dutch midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum and Scottish left back Andrew Robertson; all three were missing in Liverpool’s 3-1 win at Burnley in midweek with Alberto Moreno taking Robertson’s place in the team while Keita came in for Wijnaldum and Henderson returned from suspension.
“Sadio Mane doesn’t sound like he will be ready tomorrow. Georginio Wijnaldum and Andrew Robertson are OK,” Klopp said at to the press. He added, “Dejan Lovren will not be available. He got concussion after a knock last week – and will not be available. Nathaniel Clyne is also out but Dominic Solanke is close and I hope he’ll be in team training later on.”
Liverpool go into the game at Bournemouth looking to extend their unbeaten start to the season and possibly take advantage of any slip up from league leaders, Manchester City, who make the trip to West London to face a Chelsea side that is out to recover from the surprise 2-1 defeat at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday night.
Should Mane not make the team, do you think Liverpool would be able to get a win at an exciting Bournemouth side that has troubled most of the other top clubs in the league this season? Share your comments below.
