Anambra APC Sacks Publicity Secretary for Congratulating Soludo

Okelo Madukaife, the publicity secretary of the Anambra State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, has been fired.

Basil Ejidike, the party’s state chairman, announced at a press conference in Awka, Anambra’s capital, on Sunday.

He claimed that Madukaife, who was suspended in June this year, has continued to showcase himself as the publicity secretary, even appearing on national television lately to congratulate Prof Chukwuma Soludo, the governor-elect of the All Progressives Grand Alliance.

“Okelo was suspended in June of this year,” Ejidike stated. We were astonished that he continued to promote himself as the party’s publicity secretary. That should not be the case.

“On behalf of the APC in Anambra State, we wish to state unequivocally that Okelo Madukaife is no longer a member of our party and thus cannot be or serve as our state’s publicity secretary.” Anyone dealing with him as an APC member or the party’s publicity secretary does so at their own risk.

“We wish to state categorically that we have not congratulated anyone in the Anambra governorship election.”

“However, we are aware that he has been abusing our party since June,” he continued.

“Okelo has been suspended from the party since June due to his anti-party activities. Nonso Chinwuba, the assistant publicity secretary, has taken his place. “Okelo is not a member of the party.”

Ejidike described the election as a sham and said the party was investigating the situation with the intention of taking the matter to court over the results.

When asked about the congratulations given to Soludo by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, and the Director-General of the National Inland Waterways, Chief George Moghalu (both APC members in the state), Ejike stated that they did so as individuals, not as party officials.

When reached by phone, Madukaife stated that he was still the state’s publicity secretary.

“As I speak with you, I’m still doing an excellent job as the party’s press secretary in the state.” As a result, I’m not sure what you’re talking about. Perhaps I should listen to what he says so that I can respond instantly because our party cannot be sold to anyone. Our chapter’s position that there were no governorship primaries in Anambra remains firm, definite, and unwavering. It is a fact that has been registered in the brains of all APC members in the state.

“However, I need to hear exactly what Ejidike is saying before I can say anything.” Ejidike is by himself. The entire chapter has realized that he is a charlatan who amassed a large sum of money in order to sell our primary. “I don’t want to miss a single word in what I’m saying,” Madukaife explained. “That’s why I said I’d like to see what exactly he said because we’ve been managing him for the sake of our own image.”
