6 soldiers, unknown gunmen feared dead in Abia

Six soldiers and a yet undisclosed number of gunmen are feared dead in Ohafia, Ohafia council area of Abia state in the early hours of Saturday as the military battled gunmen in the area.

Vanguard gathered that on Thursday, at about 5pm, unknown gunmen had stormed the Ebem motor park, shot sporadically in the air and fled to the Amangwu area of Ohafia.

When soldiers of the 14 Brigade of the Nigeria Army got wind of the incident, they went in search of the hoodlums in the community.

However, the soldiers who could not arrest any of the hoodlums, reinforced and returned to Amangwu community.

Sources told Vanguard that in their second visit, the unknown gunmen engaged the soldiers in a gun battle which reportedly lasted for several hours.

In the gun duel, unconfirmed reports have it that six soldiers were killed, while an undisclosed number of the unknown gunmen were also shot dead.

The operation caused the natives of Amangwu to flee from their homes as many of them slept in the bush till the next morning when the soldiers returned to their barracks at about 8.45 am.

NAF airstrikes kill scores of bandits in Niger, wedding party hit


A Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Alpha jet conducted airstrikes around Genu town in Niger State at the weekend.

The aerial bombardments eliminated many bandits fleeing in a convoy. Herds of rustled cows were also killed.

The fighter aircraft was scrambled from a military base in Katsina State.

One of the bombs allegedly strayed towards a wedding party in an adjoining community.

An eyewitness said they saw a jet dropping bombs on bandits and one hit a wedding event in Argida village.

“Two villagers were killed unfortunately. We gathered that several others who were guests at the wedding feast, sustain injuries. ”

NAF Director of Information, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet told PRNigeria that the airstrikes at the axis were very successful.

Military Kills Top Jihad Leader

French soldiers have killed a Malian jihadist suspected of being responsible for the kidnapping and death of two French journalists in 2013, Defense Minister Florence Parly said on Friday (Saturday in Manila).

Parly said French forces in the Sahel region killed “four terrorists” during an operation in northern Mali on June 5, including Bayes Ag Bakabo, the prime suspect in the deaths of RFI radio reporters Ghislaine Dupont and Claude Verlon.

“His neutralization means the end of a long wait,” Parly said, adding that Bakabo was in the village of Aguelhok and was preparing an attack against UN peacekeeping forces when he was killed.

Eriksen stable after collapse after initial scare

Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen collapsed on the field during his country’s opening Euro 2020 match against Finland in Copenhagen.

The Inter star went down during the opening half of the Group B match and required extensive medical attention on the pitch.

His Danish teammates and supporters in the ground were visibly distressed during what appeared to be a serious medical situation.

After Eriksen was taken to the hospital, UEFA sent out word that he’d been “stablilised.” The Danish FA also confirmed that Eriksen was awake.

Following the medical emergency involving Denmark’s player Christian Eriksen, a crisis meeting has taken place with both teams and match officials and further information will be communicated at 19:45 CET.

“Damn have been fighting all night on top say person get prophetic calling. Ivbie Nigeria and Edo state in particular…azen uwa bun gbe. I am unto you all now,” she wrote.

“I will tell you all I have been fighting since I was a fetus. It’s too late to kill me now. I dey here full ground. You all tried in 2018 but it didn’t work. I am ready to expose you all.”

It would be recalled that in 2020, the ‘German Juice’ star revealed that she was down with an ailment for a very long time.

“Its been like a roller coaster for me. I took ill, I was really sick. When I changed my name, I had a lot of family issues. I had like a breakdown. So it was really hard for me…I actually went back to the studio but I wasn’t done, I still had to come back,” she told Sydney Shocker of ITV Benin.

Morgan shot into limelight following the release of two singles titled “Don’t Break My Heart” in 2014 and “Lead Me On.”

She went on to release several hit singles including “I’m Taken,” “German Juice,” and “Come and Do.”

Morgan has also featured in several songs with singers like iLLBLiss, MC Galaxy, Yung6ix, Jesse Jagz, Stone Boy, and a host of others.

2021 Hajj: Saudi Arabia bars travelers from Nigeria others over COVID-19


The government of Saudi Arabia has barred travellers from Nigeria and other countries from performing the 2021 Hajj over fears of spreading COVID19.

In a statement released, the Saudi Arabia Hajj ministry said it will only allow 60,000 vaccinated residents of the kingdom to perform the annual hajj.

In the light of what the world is witnessing with the continuing developments of the pandemic COVID19 and the emergence of new variations, Hajj 1442 will be limited to the residents and citizens from within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia ONLY – (60,000).

The Total Number of pilgrims this year is limited to ONLY 60,000 people, for residents of all nationalities and citizens inside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The health status of those wishing to register for Hajj 1442 must be from the following categories: a vaccinated person, a vaccinated person who has completed one dose and spent 14 days, or a vaccinated person recovering from infection.” the statement in part reads.
