Buhari mourns Akande
President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday sent his condolences to the family and friends of Harry Akande. The business mogul passed away at 77 on Saturday. He was a presidential aspirant on the All People’s Party (APP) platform.
In a statement by his spokesman, Femi Adesina, Buhari also joined Akande’s partners, staff and beneficiaries in mourning the investor. The Nigerian leader said Akande’s role in the nation’s development remains remarkable and commendable.
He hailed the deceased’s contribution to infrastructural development and provision of basic services to communities. President Buhari prayed for the repose of his soul.

One Dead, Vehicles Destroyed As Youths Attack Benue APC Chairman’s House
The house of the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State, Abba Yaro was on Monday attacked by angry youths in the state.
The youths were reportedly angered by the death of a domestic staff who was said to have got electrocuted while attempting to cut the branch of a tree touching a high tension cable close to the politician’s house.
The house, located behind the permanent site of Zone 4 Police headquarters was besieged by over 100 angry youths who took down the gates and destroyed up to three cars parked in the compound.
The Benue APC Chairman, Yaro explained that it was the voice from the community that woke him up and while they were still trying to settle issues, the angry youths attacked the building after the security man was electrocuted during his attempt to cut down a branch of the tree.

Former Governor of Edo state, Adams Oshiomhole has stated that he will decline any attempt or request to return as the national chairman of the All progressives Congress, APC.
In a lengthy statement on Monday evening, seen by POLITICS NIGERIA, Oshiomhole described as ‘fake news’ reports that he has returned to court to challenge his removal as the party’s chairman.

BREAKING: Nyako defects to APC
Former Adamawa senator, Abdul’Aziz Nyako, and other members and politicians of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Nyako, who formally addressed the press on the development said that after reconciliatory talks between the APC leadership and officials and other leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), he resolved to go back to the APC.
“The development followed a high powered meeting between stakeholders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and their All Progressives Congress (APC) here in Adamawa.We saw commitment in the leadership and delegation of APC, so we resolved to go back to our former fold, APC”. “The state leadership of the party, ADC, will communicate this resolution to the national headquarters as soon as possible,’’ he said.
“So, we are back in APC and the new dawn will soon be heralded in Adamawa,” he said.

Burna Boy Makes History, Becomes First Nigerian To Win ‘Best World Album’ at 2020 Edison Awards
Nigerian singer, Burna Boy is without a doubt at the top of his game.
Burna boy has put his name on the global state once again with his “African Giant” Album after winning ‘Best World Album’ at the just concluded 2020 Edison Awards.
The “Wonderful” crooner won the ‘Best World Album’ award at the 2020 Edison Awards for his African Giant album, making him the first Nigerian to win the award and the third African, after Youssou N’Dour and Angélique Kidjo.
Announcing the self acclaimed Odogwu as the winner for the prestigious award category, the Edison Award jury said;
“The Nigerian Burna Boy is a sensation in world and pop music. His music is unmistakably African, but fits seamlessly into today’s pop music culture. ‘African Giant’ contains a challenging mix of Rap, RnB, Reggae and African pop music and at times recalls the also Nigerian great Fela Kuti.”

Buhari to address NASS joint session on Thursday

President Muhammadu Buhari is scheduled to address a joint session of the National Assembly on Thursday, December 10, 2020. Personal Assistant to the President on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie, disclosed this on her verified Twitter handle, @Laurestar, on Monday.
The President is expected to brief the federal legislators on efforts by his government to address the sundry security challenges besetting the country.
“President @MBuhari will address a joint session of the National Assembly (@nassnigeria) on Thursday, December 10, 2020,” the tweet read.
Specifically, the House of Representatives had last week Tuesday invited the President to appear on the floor of the Nigerian parliament to offer explanation on the rising spate of insecurity in the country.
This followed a motion of urgent national importance brought by the Borno State caucus over last weekend’s killing of farmers in the state. The Senate had also in a separate resolution asked the President to sack his service chiefs.
It would be recalled that the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, was in the State House last week to brief the President about the invitation extended to him by the House of Representatives.
