Sallah: FG Declares July 30, 31 As Public Holiday
The Federal Government has declared Thursday, July 30 and Friday, July 31 as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-el-Kabir Celebration.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Georgina Ehuriah. According to the statement, the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, congratulated Muslim faithful and all Nigerians both at home and abroad on the occasion.
“He called on the Muslims to continue to imbibe the spirit of love, peace, kindness, and sacrifice, as exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him) and to also use the period to pray for peace, unity, prosperity and the stability of the country especially as the world is witnessing global health challenges caused by Covid-19 pandemic,” the statement partly read.

Nigerian-born and trained physician, Dr Stella Immanuel has taken a prominent spot in social media trends following a news conference she featured in at Washington.
Dr Stella who insisted that antimalarial drug; hydroxychloroquine, zinc and antibacterial drug, Zithromax were effective in the treatment of Coronavirus, accused her colleagues and pharmaceutical companies of cover-up.
Sharing her experience of managing over 350 Coronavirus patients, the Nigerian-born doctor stated that no patient has died under her care, including those with underlying medical conditions like diabetes, asthma and others.
Okonjo-Iweala, Femi Otedola, Paul Eneche, others make ‘Most Reputable Africans’ list
Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, a former Minister of Finance, Justice Ishaq Bello, Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and six other Nigerians, have been named among the 100 Most Reputable Africans.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that eight Nigerians made the 2020 ‘roll of honour’ released on Tuesday by Reputation Poll International, organisers of the annual event, on its website. The ranking, released in alphabetical order, features 47 women and 53 men from diverse sectors including; Leadership, Entertainment, Advocacy, Education and Business.
Other Nigerians who made the list include Folorunso Alakija, businesswoman and philanthropist; President of the African Development Bank (AFDB), Akinwumi Adesina; Femi Otedola, Chairman Forte Oil PLC and Tony Ojobo, a Public policy expert. Cardinal Francis Arinze of the Roman Catholic Church and Enenche Paul, Senior Pastor, Dunamis Int’l Gospel Centre, are two clerics who made the list.
