UPDATE: Atiku, PDP Floors INEC In Round 2 Of Tribunal Proceedings

Former Vice-President Atiku Abukar and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have emerged victorious in a ruling on a motion which was filed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

INEC had asked the court to strike out the witnesses and documents of the petitioners’ on allegations that the person who signed the petitioner is not a lawyer.

INEC had also called on the Tribunal to dismiss the prayers of the PDP. One of which was the allegations that results were manipulated as INEC claimed they were vague.

The tribunal in its ruling said that Levi Uzoukwu, the lead counsel of PDP only had his name misspelt insisting that he is a legal practitioner called to the Nigerian Bar.

INEC were also trounced by Atiku and the PDP as the Tribunal struck out INEC’s motion for dismissal of their petitions over the fact that Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, was not joined in the petition.

Justice Garba Mohammed, the chairman of the tribunal, giving his verdict, said that the vice president would have been superfluous in the petition.

INEC had argued in its motion that the vice president is an indispensable party to the petition and that his fair hearing would be breached if a decision was reached without his input.
