Xenophobia: Shehu Sani Tasks FG On What Should Be Done For Returnee Nigerians

Former Kaduna State senator, Shehe Sani had given his thoughts on what the Federal Government should do for returnee Nigerians in the wake of xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

He says the Federal Government must ensure it makes adequate provision for Nigerians returning from South Africa but this shouldn’t be in terms of TraderMoni, he quips.

You would recall that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had announced that Air Peace had volunteered to send an aircraft to South Africa on Friday, September 6th to evacuate Nigerians who wished to leave South Africa free of charge.

This came on the heels of the escalated xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

The ministry had advised Nigerians to liaise with Nigeria’s High Commission in Pretoria and the Nigerian Consulate in Johannesburg for necessary arrangement.

The former senator tweeting via his twitter account Sunday evening said, ”The FG should make adequate arrangements and give reasonable support to Nigerians who decided to return home and begin a new life..and abeg don’t even think of linking them up with VP’s tradermoni 10k..biko!”

However several Nigerians lashed out at him with twitter user @Beloummy saying, ”That 10k is enough to jump-start the woman selling vegetables in the village market school. So look for better jabs next time, when trying to throw one Ex-Senator!” and another saying ”They have to start from somewhere innit? I keep saying it, this bush in your head beclouds your reasoning. So the VP should give them millions to start off. Baloney.”
