Fresh revelations have emerged on the inner workings that threw up Musiliu Akinsanya popularly known as MC Oluomo as Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers NURTW.
Interestingly, Oluomo’s emergence as the NURTW chairman has sparked off protests amongst members of the transport union which has seen them take their grievances to the Lagos State House of Assembly and the Office of the Governor of Lagos state.
According to reports, the list of the Caretaker Committee of which Oluomo emerged as its Chairman in Lagos state was put together by the new National President of the Union, President Ibikunle Baruwa with the endorsement of his predecessor Najim Yasin.
According to online news platform, Society Now, there were speculations that Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi had spearheaded the emergence of Oluomo as the Chairman of the transport union in Lagos State.
This is not true a source reveals.
‘’This is not to say that Oba Elegushi was not favourably disposed to Oluomo becoming the NURTW chairman or supported him. But certainly not as bandied about in all these trash talks of monetary gift and taking him here and there.’’ a source stated and explained.
‘’There is Seego (Mustapha Adekunle), Kudeleti (Sulaimon Olamide Ojora) and Oluomo (Musiliu Akinsanya) all known to Tinubu and his inner circles like Oba Elegushi, Rauf Aregbesola, James Odumbaku, and others. These transport unionists work together and understand that they need the backing of Tinubu and his inner circle to get what they want, remain relevant and they make it a point of duty to inform and lobby Asiwaju and those that surround in circumstances such as this. So if Oba Elegushi is favourably inclined to Oluomo becoming NURTW chairman in Lagos state it would be in this context and not in the manner being branded’’ the source says.
According to the online news platform, Asiwaju Tinubu and his inner circle have reportedly not thrown their weight behind the emergence of MC Oluomo as Chairman.
‘’Oluomo’s emergence is still a case of clout mustered by his working together with Seego and Kudeleti and others joining forces with them to protect personal interests and it is all still within the union and that is the truth’’ an insider insists.
The core protesters to Oluomo’s emergence are reportedly remnants of the opposition loyal to the former chairman who interestingly is now one of the national Vice Presidents in what has been an interesting power play and truce.
