The Nigeria Police has reacted to reports of an explosion at the South African High Commission in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

There has been palpable tension in the country following renewed xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa.

Reports of invasion of South African businesses, in Nigeria, have rocked the media space.

The big one came on Saturday, when some sections of the Nigerian media started reporting an explosion at the South Africa Embassy in Abuja.

The police was then called into denying those reports.

According to the force, the was no explosion at the said location or any other place in the nation’s capital.

“The above video is another classical example of a disingenuous piece of Fake News. There was no explosion in the South African High Commission or any other part of Nigeria today. The public are therefore advised to disregard the information in its entirety.”
