“Buhari, meanwhile, has never before been to WEF Africa since he came into office. Never. So what does “Buhari boycotts WEF” really mean in substance?”
The above question was posed by former Nigeria’s Education Minister, Obageli Ezekwesili, susgesting that President Muhammadu Buhari’s decision to boycott this year’s World Economic Forum – that was held in Cape Town, South Africa.
The Presidency had announce a boycott of the Cape Town event, in protest to the renewed xenophobic attacks on Nigerians by South Africans.
But it turned out that Mrs Ezekwesili attended the event.
Following backlash she received from people she has described as agent of the government, she deemed it necessary to explain her involvement in the event.
While stating she was a private citizen and accusing the government of a looking for cheap and frustrated strategy designed to bully, slander, denigrate she at every opportunity, she said the government was using the means to distract citizens from scrutinizing how it was handling its responsibility.
She then mentioned that the President had never attended the WEF before and wondered if his boycott amounted to any thing.

A @NigeriaGov that had several of its high ranking& low ranking officials in South Africa when I arrived for @wef on Wednesday mischievously rolls out the drumbeats of attacks against me, a private citizen for “ignoring the boycott of WEF”.
Their dishonesty is incurable.— Oby Ezekwesili (@obyezeks) September 7, 2019
The most laughable of the cheap muck they ignorantly were throwing at me was “she could not ignore the Dollar @wef would pay her”. Imagine.
What an irredeemable & corrupted bunch of illiterates who think everything is about money.
I earn no Fees for speaking @wef .
Sorry souls.— Oby Ezekwesili (@obyezeks) September 7, 2019
For two days, a private citizen’s decision to attend @wef became the issue that mattered to the @NigeriaGov . It took delight in having citizens forget to scrutinize how EFFECTIVELY it was handling its responsibility. Oby Ezekwesili @wef was reason @MBuhari was failing citizens.

Fake News reported that 2 presidents (whom I know) and who did not even confirm attendance to WEF this year ‘have boycotted’. @MBuhari meanwhile, has never before been to WEF Africa since he came into office. Never. So what does “Buhari boycotts WEF” really mean in substance?
