Former President Goodluck Jonathan’s new media aide, Reno Omokri, on Friday, issued out a series of twitter posts on the Nigerian civil war – known as the Biafran War.
In a series tweets, numbering 14, he explained the Igbos were not consulted before Nigeria was formed by the British – reason for region’s grievance.
He also said he would have also tried to secede like Ojukwu did if he was faced with the same situation in the 70s.
read his tweets below and tell us what you think?
1-Till today, I don’t understand the rationale behind the Nigerian Civil War. If the Southeast had taken a chunk of the Midwest or West or those parts of the North having consanguinity with the Igbos, then the war might have been justifiable. #ReviewingTheNigerianCivilWar

2-The Eastern decided to pull out of Nigeria. They were not consulted before the British put this forced marriage together. They decided to leave. There was no justification for that war. They were not like Germany that took other people’s territory#ReviewingTheNigerianCivilWar

3-Even today, the Fulani intelligentsia do not even pretend to like the Southeast. What was it that made them decide to fight that war to keep Nigeria one? Look at General @MBuhari. Even a fool knows he believes in North, not Nigeria. Not st all!#ReviewingTheNigerianCivilWar

4-There has never been a more unjust war than the Nigerian Civil War. And to the spiritually minded man, most of the problems Nigeria is having today is the result of our paying the price for the innocent blood shed between 1968-70. It‘s inescapable#ReviewingTheNigerianCivilWar

5-If I was Ojukwu, facing with the same options he faced in 1967, I would also have seceded. I may not have done it in May. I would have tried to get international backing. But I‘d have still seceded. In fact, they did not secede. They were REJECTED#ReviewingTheNigerianCivilWar

6-The Nigerian Civil War was not fought because the Fulani intelligentsia loved the East. If oil had been in the North rather than the East, there would have been NO WAR. That war should be called the Nigerian Oil War, not the Nigerian Civil War #ReviewingTheNigerianCivilWar

7-Gowon was just a mere pawn. An inoffensive man that was sent packing when he outlived his usefulness to his masters. Look at his Plateau people. The way they are being killed and wasted is sad. The once strong Langtang Mafia has been castrated
— Reno Omokri (@renoomokri) September 6, 2019
8-I was a firm believer in Nigerian unity until the 2002 Sharia crisis. The comments of General @MBuhari fed the crisis and led to bloodshed. And Nigeria elected him. It is like a church giving her pastorate to satan. Go back and read his comments #ReviewingTheNigerianCivilWar

9-Nigeria exists ONLY because of oil. Our unity is not LOVE based. It is OIL based. During AFCON 2013 some Nigerians rooted for our opponents because they felt Super Eagles was dominated by Igbos. The mindset that led to the civil war is still alive#ReviewingTheNigerianCivilWar

10-Nigeria’s population will continue to outgrow GDP. An implosion is inevitable if we dont restructure and I dont see the North agreeing to restructuring. Nigeria is a bad marriage no one wants but every one is too cowardly to say it. I will say it#ReviewingTheNigerianCivilWar
— Reno Omokri (@renoomokri) September 6, 2019
11-Why Do Nigerian politicians like to pretend? So if you say the truth then you wont win election or won’t become a minister? Look at how General @MBuhari has destroyed Nigeria. If we don’t talk now, we will not be any better than those who talk #ReviewingTheNigerianCivilWar
— Reno Omokri (@renoomokri) September 6, 2019
12-To know how Nigeria has deteriorated since the civil war, consider that in 1967, our federal budget was comparable to the budget of New York State. Today, our budget is comparable to just the combined budget of the NYPD and New York Fire Dept#ReviewingTheNigerianCivilWar
— Reno Omokri (@renoomokri) September 6, 2019
13-Fellow citizens, let us start telling ourselves home truths. The last time Nigeria worked as it should was 1966. Since then, we‘ve just been managing. People like Obasanjo tried to stabilise us. People like @MBuhari neutralised his good work #ReviewingTheNigerianCivilWar
— Reno Omokri (@renoomokri) September 6, 2019
14-Until we undo the historic injustice done the Igbo and fully bring them back to the mainstream and RESTRUCTURE Nigeria back to what we agreed with the British before independence, incompetents like @MBuhari will continue to thwart our progress #ReviewingTheNigerianCivilWar
