The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has just disclosed that it has obtained orders for the interim forfeiture of some properties which were traced to Rochas Okorocha the immediate past governor of Imo State, along with his wife, Nkechi, which it suspects to be proceeds from fraudulent acts.
The Head of the Enugu Zonal Office of the EFCC, Usman Imam, revealed this as he briefed reporters in Enugu State on Wednesday, September 4th.
Mr. Imam said that the commission has obtained a similar order on a property which it traced to Paschal Obi, a former aide of Okorocha as well as to the former governor’s daughter.
Imam revealed that some of the properties which were billed to be forfeited included a 16-block cum 96 flats and an eight-bungalow multimillion naira estate, shopping plaza, supermarket, hotel, two schools, hospital, and four vehicles.
“We hope to get permanent forfeiture orders on the property in order to return them to the people of the state,” he said.
Imam stated that the facilities, including the schools, would continue to function as the commission would not like to shut them down for the sake of the students and other users.
