The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State has accused Governor Yahaya Bello of sending gunmen to disrupt its primary in Lokoja.
This allegation was made by the party’s National Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan on Wednesday.
Ologbondiyan at a press conference in Abuja said that the governor had failed in his intention because rather than scattering the party, the attack had further strengthened the party.
The attack was said to have occurred as the collation of the primary election was going on.
According to him, the gunmen allegedly were chanting Bello’s slogan as they unleashed their terror.
He assured Bello that his tenure as governor has come to an end as he will be beaten in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state.
He further affirmed that the attack will not affect the submission of the party’s candidate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) because the process had virtually been concluded before the attack.
