The Federal Government (FG) has alleged that Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN ) has the sole aim of establishing an Islamic State in Nigeria.
The FG further stated that the cleric was fully backed by the Iranian government to ensure that this aim is achieved.
These claims were made by the government in a counter-affidavit which it filed against the motion posed by the IMN which was challenging the July 26 order of the Federal High Court, which proscribed the group, the PUNCH reports.
On Wednesday, Justice Nkeonye Maha of the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court who issued the proscription order, fixed September 11 for the hearing of the motion which Mr Femi Falana filed on behalf of the IMN.
