Giant Strides? Meet The Two Young Commissioners Appointed By Governor Seyi Makinde

In what appears to be a break from the norm and departure from the regular style of governance Oyo state has been known for, Governor Seyi Makinde is re-writing the narrative of governance in Oyo state.

The governor on Monday sent the name of Seun Fakorede, a 27-year-old graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University along with 2 others to the State House of Assembly for confirmation.

If confirmed, Fakorede will make history as one of the youngest Nigerians ever to be appointed as commissioner.

This follows  the earlier appointment of Temilolu Seen Asamu, a 32-year-old UK-trained lawyer who had earlier been appointed Commissioner for Energy.

One thing that is evident in the governor’s appointment so far is the deliberate effort of selecting only round pegs in round holes as well now several young and dynamic individuals who can bring to bear their strengths and innovative thinking to the table. Many of the new commissioners, apart from boasting of professional experiences in different fields, have had public service experiences as former legislators, local government chairmen and commissioner.

The world will be waiting to see how well these young individuals go to prove themselves and stand out from the pack of regular and boring politicians that dot Nigeria’s political landscape at the moment.

Lets have your thoughts below.
