Former presidential new media aide, Reno Omokri has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to switch attention from arresting people to arresting poverty – that way, he would win the war against crime in the nation.
The author of Leah Sharibu: The Gril Boko Haram Left Behind, gave the advise in a tweet on Thursday while explaining the root cause of crime in the country.
According to him, poverty was the main cause of crime, evident by how crime rates are higher in poor neighborhood than its rich counterpart.
He therefore advised the president to shift the focus on arresting poverty, rather than arresting people, in order to curb crime.
“POVERTY is the root of most CRIME. That is why there are more CRIMES in POOR neighbourhoods than in RICH ones. General @MBuhari is fighting crime by arresting people. There is a better way. Arrest POVERTY and you will arrest CRIME. Fix the economy!”
