The Inspector General of police, Mohammed Adamu has directed the deployment of adequate operational manpower and equipment to ensure hitch free Sallah celebration.
This was contained in a statement by the Federal Government of Nigeria, on twitter, on Friday.
The FG had declared Monday and Tuesday next week as public holidays to mark this years sallah celebration.
According to the statement, the IGP identified “shopping malls, motor parks, financial institutions, places of worship, recreation centres” are key areas of concentration.

“As part of measures toward ensuring a peaceful and incident-free Sallah celebration, the IGP has directed all Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs) and Commissioners of Police (CPs) in charge of Zones and State Commands nationwide to deploy adequate operational manpower & equipment to protect all places of public interest,incl: shopping malls, motor parks, financial institutions, places of worship, recreation centres to enable holidaymakers, worshippers & the general public enjoy optimum safety & security.
The IGP has in particular directed that all State Commissioners of Police including FCT should put in place strategic and customized security deployment on major highways straddling their Areas of Responsibilities (AOR) to ensure adequate safety for travelers & other road users.”
