The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II has said that the current crisis rocking the Edo State House of Assembly has been left in the hands of God.
The remark was made by the monarch in his palace on Wednesday during the visit of the Senate ad hoc committee investigating the assembly crisis which is threatening to tear the State House of Assembly apart.
Oba Eware said his palace had already tried to intervene in the crisis in its own way.
“We leave it in the hands of God and the ancestors for now. We pray God and our ancestors to help us,” he said.
“We have intervened; the House of Representative was here last week and you are here now to help us resolve the issue. I pray that God and the ancestors should give you the wisdom to resolve the crisis and bring peace and unity,” he added.
Oba Ewuare’s comments comes after Edo State governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, on Wednesday, said the national leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC) was to blame for the crisis in the state Assembly in recent times.
The governor spoke when the Senate Committee set up to look into the crisis visited the state to investigate the matter.
Chairman of the Committee, Senator Aliyu Abdullahi, had led four members of the committee to the state.
Governor Obaseki while addressing the committee members, said it became humongous due to inaction of the leadership of the APC which could not do anything when the issue started.
