According to reports from Linda Ikeji Blog, there is at the moment a protest rocking the streets of Sokoto.
The protest is being carried out by undergraduate students of the Usman Dan Fodio University Sokoto (UDUS), over the decision of the Federal Government to suspend the planned RUGA settlements for Fulani herdsmen throughout the country.
It will be recalled that a few weeks back, the Federal Government announced that it was suspending the planned RUGA settlement project, after the proposition of the scheme sparked outrage in different parts of the country.
The students carried placards with inscriptions written in different languages including Hausa, English and Fulfulde, calling for the RUGA settlement programme to be implemented as they took to major highways within the Sokoto metropolis to stage a protest on Saturday, July 13, 2019.
