Peter Obi Blows Hot – INEC MUST Produce Server Used For Elections

The vice-presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the recently concluded elections, Peter Obi, has just told the nation’s electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), that it must produce the server which it employed during the polls, THE CABLE has reported.

INEC has however made a denial of the use of its server for the 2019 polls, as it explained that it was only used during the Osun and Anambra governorship elections in 2018.

A National Commissioner of INEC, Mr Solomon Soyebi, made this known in Osun State on Monday as he said that the commission had shelved the idea of using any server for the 2019 elections due to certain factors, one of which was that its budget was released late.

Soyebi offered this explanation as debate continues to rage on in the country on if the electoral umpire was in possession of a server with which it eventually transmitted its results electronically.

The main opposition in the country, the PDP, has been using the existence of an INEC server as one of its argument at the hearing of Presidential Election Tribunal which is ongoing. PDP said that according to the server, its flag bearer in the elections Atiku Abubakar got the most votes during the Presidential elections.

However, Peter Obi who was speaking at a thanksgiving service at Atani in Anambra State had insisted that the commission had used a server.

The service was put together to honour the Anambra North Senator, Stalla Oduah, along with others who won elective posts in the state House of Assembly.

“INEC must provide the server they used for the election because they know they used the server for the election and must provide it,” Obi said.

He further requested that those who had emerged victorious during the polls and who were celebrating should thank God for it.

Obi said this as he admonished the lawmakers to at all times put the interests of their electorates first and utilise public funds judiciously.

“The election has come and gone and now is the reality. We have to thank God Almighty for, without Him, we would not have succeeded in the election,” he said.

“Whenever we have the opportunity we should show gratitude to God. Thanksgiving is important and we are here to show our appreciation to God for what he did for us.

“We also show our appreciation to all the people who helped made it possible for us to succeed, we must do something that they will appreciate… you are nearer to the people.

“There is no road in Ogbaru and so many areas need to be revived again. There is a lot of work to be done in the constituency.

“So many people are hungry, so many things are happening to Nigeria. Let those who are in power today please use public money for public good.

“Our children are not working because there is no job while some are working and suffering, Obi said.”
