Trouble Looms As EFCC Allegedly Arrests Okorocha And His Wife…Details

Foremost anti graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC, have arrested the immediate past governor of Imo State and his wife Nkechi Okorocha,Gerald Okorocha and Okey Okorocha. The anti graft agency further sealed off the Eastern Palm University Ogboko belonging to the former governor.

It will be recalled two moths ago that the anti graft agency of arrested the then e Accountant-General of Imo State, Uzoho Casmir, for allegedly helping the former governor to lauder a whooping sum of  N1.05bn for prosecution of the just concluded  governorship and state assembly polls.

 

 

This allegations were revealed in a report by the anti corruption agency, the Economic and Financial Crime Commission released after the arrest.

The former governor who is a founding member of the ruling All Progressive Congress supported hi so-in-law,Uche Nwosu who contested under the platform of the Action Alliance against the governorship flag-bearer of his party, the APC,  Senator Hope Uzodinma. The former number one citizen of Imo State, who is was also the Chairman of the All Progressive Congress,APC, Governors’ Forum  was subsequently suspended by the party.

“The, EFCC, Enugu Zonal Office, Thursday, March 8, 2019 arrested the Acting Accountant General of Imo State, Mr. Uzoho Casmir, on suspicion of laundering the sum of N1.050bn through a new generation bank for the governor of the state, Rochas Okorocha.

“Uzoho’s arrest followed intelligence report that the governor intended to use the money for vote buying in favour of a particular candidate in tomorrow’s gubernatorial election. Intelligence further revealed that Mr Casmir withdrew the amount in three tranches between Tuesday and Thursday this week in the following order; N200m on Tuesday, N500m on Wednesday and N350m on Thursday.

 

“Meanwhile, the EFCC has blocked the traced accounts, while the arrested Accountant General has been providing useful information to the commission. Mr Casmir was before his appointment, a Director of Finance in Okorocha’s government and was in 2016 fingered in N2bn bailout fund scam, which was then given to the state by the Federal Government for the payment of salary arrears of civil servants.”

Meanwhile during his handing over ceremony Okorocha issued a stern warning that nobody should victimise him, He stated that

“As I walk out of this government house, let no on fight me and I will not fight anybody.

“When you remove this seal of governance off my face, you will see the real Rochas. The real Rochas is still asleep, if not bigger than the governor, so let no one fight me and I will not fight anybody.”

Okorocha disclosed that hat there is an ongoing conspiracy to arrest and persecute him.

“Why I say so is there seems to be a gang up and conspiracy to hold me down politically but I don’t think they can hold me down politically because what God has ordained must surely come to pass. I will leave you for good and I will wish you well,”
