Owelle Rochas Okorocha, by the virtue of today’s Inaugurations across the country, is now known and referred to as former Governor Of Imo state.
At exactly 11am, Wednesday, May 29, 2019, Rochas Okorocha handed over to new Governor Emeka Ihedioha of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Emeka Ihedioha was sworn in as the 6th executive governor of Imo state, and effectively ended Rochas’ eight year reign.
The inauguration was done amidst a mammoth crowd at the Dan Anyiam stadium in Owerri, as oath taking was administed by the Chief Judge of the state, Paschal Nnadi.
Ihedioha’s Deputy, Gerald Irona, took his oath of office and allegiance four minutes earlier
But Rochas did not bow out without a bit of drama. He made utterances that have got people talking. Most notably, he’d asked that “nobody should fight him and he will not fight anybody” as he exited the government house.

Rochas had a day before the inauguration, boasted of he leaving, in the state coffers, N42.5 billion to the Emeka Ihedioha’s incoming government because he does not want to hear excuses from Ihedioha.
Governor Okorocha also claimed that he could not have access to the funds because of the several petitions written against him (Okorocha) to the Economic Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, by members of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
This is even as the new governor, elect, Emeka Ihedioha, on Monday said he was inheriting a state with institutional decay
