Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex political group has stated that the Northern region has only benefited poverty,Almajiri and Insecurity from producing Nigeria presidents and Head of States at different times in the country’s history.

Chucks Ibegbu, the deputy spokesperson of the group stated this in an comprehensive interview with DAILYPOST on Saturday while disclosing that it is the turn of the Igbo speaking South-East region to produce the country’s president.

He disclosed this while berating comments credited to the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, AYCF that power will remain in the North after President Muhammadu Buhari’s second tenure expires in 2023.

He said he wondered if the Northern region is comfortable with the wide spread poverty and high level of poverty and insecurity prevalent in the northern in region and the entire country.

He stressed that other geo-political regions of the country had produced presidents, hence 2023 was the turn of an Igbo man to become Nigeria’s President.

In his reaction to the statement credited to the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, Ibegbu stated that

“What has the North benefited from producing the presidency all this while, is it Almajiri, poverty, insecurity that they want to continue? Is this what the North want to continue with?

“This is not all about grand standing, presidency of Nigeria is turn by turn, the North, South West, South South have done theirs turn it’s time for the South-East. Simple.

“Other zones have had their turn 2023, it’s time for the South-East. simple.”

It will be recalled that the Minister for Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has disclosed that the South-East region can never produce the president in 2023 .

“I was the first to do that [promise Igbo Presidency] but I don’t know what the situation is now.

“I don’t know what they will do now for voting against the APC. For refusing to support the APC, they cannot come to the table to demand the presidency slot.

“For people like us in the APC, if the Igbo had come and voted Buhari, they would boldly tell Mr President and the National Chairman of the party that presidency should go the Southeast since the South-south; South-west and North-west have produced president.

“What argument would the Southeast come up with now to convince anybody that they deserve the slot for 2023 president?

While speaking about Alhaji Atiku Abubakar he stated that  “I won’t give him any other advice because everybody wants to crucify me over the one I gave to him previously. I had told him that it was unnecessary to drag President Buhari to court

“That he should rather allow him do his remaining four years for the interest of the country since 2023 is already here with us. Some persons felt that it was an unnecessary advice and I stopped.”
