The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday, May 2, called on President Muhammadu Buhari to end his ‘private visit’ abroad and immediately return home to tackle the deteriorated security situation in the country.
Leadership is a responsibility. @MBuhari leaves us exposed to bandits, Fulani herdsmen terrorists, kidnappers, cultists B/Haram & travels abroad regularly even in d heat of grave insecurity afflicting the nation. Surely, that's not leadership! He should learn even from the birds pic.twitter.com/myt0EI4axf

How can you convince armed bandits to stop kidnapping when they can get N60Million ransom payment within the blink of an eye?

Continue defending incompetence,
The day the bandits or kidnappers will come, they won’t ask if you voted APC or PDP.— Comrade Deji Adeyanju?? (@adeyanjudeji) May 1, 2019
According to a report filed by online news portal, Legit.ng, that a statement by the PDP’s national spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan, said the security situation in the country had become unacceptable and that the president must return urgently.
The party said in the absence of Buhari in the country, bandits, marauders and insurgents have “seize our nation.”
It said the seeming inattention of the authorities “have emboldened insurgents and bandits to continue to over-run communities, unleash mayhem and bloodletting on citizens in Borno, Zamfara, Yobe, Adamawa, Gombe Taraba, Kaduna, Benue, Kogi and other states of the federation, including Mr President’s home state, Katsina.”
It recalled how bandits abducted the district head of Daura, Musa Umar, who is the father in-law of the president’s security aide.
“Within this period, marauders invaded communities in Adamawa and killed no fewer than 26 innocent Nigerians; many more have been killed in Borno, Taraba, Benue and Zamfara states, where bandits also reportedly attacked Government Girls Secondary School Moriki, and kidnapped some school girls,” the party added.
“kidnappers have taken over many major highways “with hundreds of compatriots held in captivity in forests along Kaduna-Abuja, Taraba-Katsina-Ala and other highways in the country.”
It noted the allegation that some of the bandits arrested in states such as Katsina, are not Nigerians but aliens allegedly imported by from Niger Republic to assist a political party in rigging the 2019 general elections.
“The PDP urges the police to investigate this alleged links. “The PDP therefore calls on President Buhari to immediately return home and use the remaining part of his tenure to seek help,” the party said.
