The United States of America (USA) has just sounded a warning to its citizens through its Department of State. The warning to American citizens issued by the US government was against traveling down to Nigeria, “due to crime, terrorism, civil unrest, kidnapping and piracy”.
Naija News says that a report by CNN quoted the State Department to have said that it has labelled high-threat countries with a ‘K’, so as to communicate more clearly to US citizens the risks of kidnapping and hostage-taking by criminal and terrorist actors around the world.
The State Department made this known in a post on its website during the week, that apart from kidnapping, its citizens who are planning to visit Nigeria should also be wary of armed robbery, rape, carjacking civil unrest, terrorism and indiscriminate violence.
It is understood by this online news platform that the Department also issued a level 4 travel alert for Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states due to terrorism, saying that US citizens should not travel to the three states.
The State Department pointed out that the security situation in the North-East was fluid and unpredictable, particularly in the three states.
“Reconsider travel to Nigeria due to crime, terrorism, civil unrest, kidnapping and piracy. Some areas have increased risk,” the post read.
“Do not travel to Borno and Yobe states and northern Adamawa State due to terrorism.
“Violent crimes such as armed robbery, assault, carjacking, kidnapping and rape are common throughout the country. Exercise extreme caution throughout the country due to the threat of indiscriminate violence,” it added.

Terrorism, kidnapping, rapping, carjacking, armed robbery, violent crimes, civil unrest are indices of a failed state.
Trump is indirectly telling us the truth and that truth, is that Nigeria has failed as a state. Can we accept the obvious?
