The Police in Anambra State has surprised Nigerians by its latest disclosure in an incident involving the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige.
The police in Anambra State denied stories making the rounds of the arrest of two men who were on a mission to assassinate the minister of labour and employment, Dr Chris Ngige, Daily Post reports. The social media had been agog on Sunday with the news of the arrest of two alleged assassins by youths of Alor community of Idemili South local government area of Anambra State, where the minister hailed.
Attempt by DAILY POST to confirm the development from the minister, however, did not yield fruit as the minister failed to take calls made to his mobile phone.
But the police command’s spokesperson in the state, SP Haruna Mohammed reacting to enquiries from our correspondent, said the news was totally misleading. He clarified that, “On the 17/2/2019 at about 5pm, there was a report at Nnobi Division that while the President-General elections was taking place at Alor Town hall, a group of youth stormed the venue and disrupted the gathering.
“However, nine suspects were arrested by the community and handed over to the Police in connection with the alleged incident. Consequently, the Commissioner of Police CP Mustapha Dandaura has ordered for a full scale investigation to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident,” he said.
In another development, the Senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye, revealed that God told him that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, will become the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Melaye said it was a revelation from God that Atiku will emerge winner of this Saturday’s presidential election ahead of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, President Muhammadu Buhari.
He said this while speaking at the 84th emergency meeting of the PDP National Executive Council (NEC) on Tuesday in Abuja.
According to Melaye: “The Nigerian military must know that every soldier, police, para-military took an oath of allegiance and that oath of allegiance is not for President Mammadu Buhari, it is in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“And any soldier, police or para-military personal used by the APC to unleash terror on Nigerians during elections, we will record you.
“And some of you know you have network problem with God. As for me, I have no network problem with God. Whenever I called upon him, he answered me. And he told me that Atiku will be the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
“So if you allow yourselves to be used, I want to plead Mr President Sir, I want to be a member of the special panel that will try military officers who betray the constitution of Nigeria.”
