You lack the power to investigate Governor Abdullahi. So says a high court sitting in Kano .That the Kano House of Assembly lacks the power to investigate the $5 million bribery allegation against Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.
In a judgement delivered by Justice Ahmad Badamasi on Thursday, he said collecting bribe from contractors is a criminal offence in section 115 and 116 of penal code, and as such the House has no capacity to investigate criminal offences, adding that only agencies under executive arms such as police, the EFCC and the ICPC possess the powers to investigate such offences.
He consequently gave an order restraining the House from interview or inviting any person on the bribery allegation against Governor Ganduje as published by the Daily Nigerian newspaper.
Do you think the court is right?
