Emerging reports show that Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, a former president of Nigeria, Prince Uche Secondus, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the PDP presidential flagbearer, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, had a meeting in Abuja to strategize ahead of the 2019 elections which holds in less than three (3) months.
The reports show that the meeting was also attended by a few ‘carefully’ selected members of the opposition party.
The meeting was ostentatiously to talk about surefire strategies that would enable Atiku and the PDP emerge winners over President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the general elections while also focused on reviewing the ongoing zonal campaigns for the party and procedures for the various activities ahead of the election.
Sources within the party said the PDP used the meeting as an opportunity to settle the long crisis between Atiku and a former governor of Adamawa state, Murtala Nyako, who recently returned to PDP after decamping to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) party.
A source said: “It was a family and an elaborate meeting. Baba (Obasanjo) is a fantastic leader. I have never seen such a man who combines energy with intellect and political sagacity. He spoke at length to everyone, including the Waziri (Atiku) and others that were there. He had successfully settled the rift between Atiku and Nyako and the disagreements between Atiku and Ardo. Now, we have Adamawa to take because all the power brokers are behind us.”
