Governor Willie Obiano Goes Into Hiding, As Hundreds Of Religious Priests Take Over Anambra Government House

No fewer than 300 Anglican Priests of the Diocese of the Niger (Onitsha area), on Friday, stormed the Anambra State Government House, accusing the State Governor, Willie Obiano, of religious bigotry.

The Priests, all dressed in their robes and numbering about 300, blocked the Anambra State Government House, in protest.

They vowed not to leave the scene, until the Governor shows up.

It was gathered that their protest was over the alleged seizure of the Bishop Crowther Primary School, in Onitsha, by their Catholic counterparts, which the Anglicans claimed belonged to them.

The Anglicans accused Obiano who is a Catholic, of aiding his denomination to take over the property.

The Priests who were singing different versions of their hymns, carried placards of different inscriptions. Some of the placards read: “Willie Obiano leave our property for us”, “Governor Obiano give us back our land and school”, “Religious politics in Anambra has no end”, “Bishop Crowder Memorial Primary School, Onitsha, belongs to Anglican Church”, “Bishop Crowder is not government’s property”.
The protesting Priests vowed not to vacate the place, until the Governor addresses them.
