President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday finally took over as the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, National Leader.
Buhari’s first assignment in his new role, was a meeting he had with aspirants of the party at all levels at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Addressing the party members under the auspices of APC Aspirants Forum, the president pleaded with the aggrieved members to remain resolute and loyal to the party.
He also promised the aggrieved members that the party leadership would do the needful to ensure that their stolen mandates were returned.
An APC chieftain, Ahmed Wadada, briefed State House correspondents on behalf of the group after the meeting held behind closed doors.
He said the members have pledged to support and work sincerely with the party.
Earlier, President Muhammadu Buhari had met with four governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the South-south region, over affairs of their states.
The governors who met with the President are Nyesom Wike of Rivers, Bayelsa’s Seriake Dickson, Udom Emmanuel from Akwa Ibom, and Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State.
Governor Dickson told reporters after the meeting that issues discussed bordered on the interest of their respective states and the country at large.
President Buhari met with the governors upon his arrival from Kaduna where he paid a condolence visit following the recent violence that claimed several lives in the state.
