The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos are not resting on their oars in their bid to seize power in the Center of Excellence.
To achieve this seemingly daunting task, the PDP has again reached out to members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) including Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode to join what they describe as the struggle to free the state from one-man leadership.
The PDP is wooing Ambode even though the outgoing governor has openly made a promise that he would support the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s candidate Jide Sanwo-Olu and President Muhammadu Buhari in next year’s election.
The PDP said the APC members should join the “free Lagos train” to be recorded as true progressives that returned the governance of the state to the people.
The PDP’s entreaty was premised on the inability of some members of the APC to get the party’s ticket to contest in the 2019 elections.
Spokesman of the PDP, Mr. Taofiq Gani, in a statement said aggrieved members should be bold enough to dump the APC, adding that they should emulate their members in Ogun, Oyo, Kaduna, Imo, among others.
The PDP noted that such aggrieved members of the ruling party were in all the senatorial districts of the state, claiming that some of them were denied second term ticket for no just cause.
Governor Ambode leads the pack of APC members who could not get return tickets. The PDP had consistently expressed its readiness to receive Ambode if he chose to dump the APC.
The opposition party’s statement said: “To be fair to some persons in the Lagos APC, they have not done badly to warrant the disgrace of being denied another term. In order words the APC rather sees them as being without any value.
“Such individuals are invited to assert their relevance in their voting areas by supporting candidates against the APC. This is a common struggle this time to free Lagos.”
There had been insinuations that Ambode will be promptly impeached if he dares makes any attempt to cross to any political party especially the PDP.
Before making the u-turn to support the APC, Ambode had in the press conference stated that his opponent in the race, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, was arrested for spending fake dollars in the United States of America. Ambode further stated that Sanwo-Olu was detained in the USA on account of the alleged crime.
The governor further alleged that his party, the APC, was disenfranchising its members by insisting that registered members of the party, who were yet to be issued with membership cards, will not be allowed to participate in the gubernatorial primary election.
The facts still remains that APC took Lagosians for granted they believed they will take whatever is given. They believed in brain washing people and there are some who fell in. My grouse is not about Ambode/but for the fact that some few selected Cabals can just put their interests about over 20 million people is sadist and wicked in fact its uncivilised and we must resist this so that they won’t continue enslaving us. Truly, we were denied and they openly used thugs to chase people away for a STOOGE to emerge. Of course they have caged Ambode and they have also tied his hands with impeachment threats. And you know what that means?/But I sincerely urge every reasonable people to vote out APC in order to move Lagos to her deserved status in the world because Lagos can boast of a commensurable developments infrastrures and others with humongous revenue we ha e been generating since 1999 that we have been under the same set of people.
