Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, in a bid to save his second term ambition, met with President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday in Abuja behind closed doors.
According to sources at the Presidential Villa, Ambode used the meeting to update the President on the latest developments within the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The governor has reportedly come under immense pressure from APC leaders to forget his ambition for a second term in office.
The mandate group, led by Ambode’s acclaimed godfather, Bola Tinubu, has also thrown its weight behind the ambition of Ambode’s main challenger, Jide Sanwo-Olu.
According to State House sources, governors under the platform of APC, had after their meeting on Wednesday in Abuja, sought for the intervention of President Buhari in the ongoing crisis in the Lagos State chapter of the party.
