The Nigerian Army disclosed that it has recorded a strategic victory in the war against the Boko Haram terrorists group by killing almost 27 members of the insurgents group while seizing their arms and ammunition.

In an official press release by its spokesman, Colonel Sagir Musa soldiers attached to of Sector 1 Operation LAFIA DOLE, in a joint clearance operation with Chadian Defence Forces, on the 13th of April 2019 were involved in a tough battle with Boko Haram terrorists at the Northern part of Wulgo, Tumbuma, Chikun Gudu, and Bukar Maryam villages.

He disclosed that during the tough operation, 27 members of the insurgent group were neutralised.

The ammunitions recovered from the terrorists are listed below.

l. 5 x Rocket Propelled Gun Tubes Bombs
m. 1000 x Assorted rounds of different calibre ammunition

o. Several Links of 12.7 MM

No casualty was recorded on the part of the joint Forces of the Nigerian and Chadian military.

The spokesperson further stated that other coordinated military operations are going on the fringes of Gombaru – Ngala and surrounding areas as at press time. According to him the aim of the operation is to deal ruthlessly with the bandits who are fleeing from the Multi-National Joint Task Force (Op YANCIN TAFKI ) attacks on their hideout.

It will be recalled that Lt-Gen Tukur Buratai on Thursday praised the efforts of the  gallant troops which lead  to the defeat of Boko Haram insurgents at Maisadari community in the outskirts of Damaturu, Yobe.

This message was delivered by  Lt. Njoka Irabor, the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Sector 2, Operation Lafiya Dole who disclosed that the commendation was conveyed by Maj. Gen. Benson Akinroluyo, the  Theater Commander on Thursday in Damaturu, the state capital.

There are reports that the gallant troops, on Tuesday successfully foiled attempt by the insurgents to attack Maisandari community, killing many of them and destroying their equipment.

The Theatre Commander while speaking to the gallant soldiers at  233 Battalion Headquarters also praised the efforts of the Air Component of Operation Lafiya Dole and other sister security agencies, and the law abiding citizens for their support and cooperation which made the defaets of the insurgents a success.

 

He thereafter charge the troops to be professional and responsive, ao as to be able to ruthlessly deal with the insurgents in their assigned areas of operation. The army general disclosed that there is urgent need for  synergy and collaborative efforts between the military and other soister security agencies to make sure the insurgent doesn’t have any room to perpetrate their evil operations.
