Bauchi Commissioner Resigns After Father’s Removal As Emirate Councillor
The Commissioner of Cooperatives and SMEs Development in Bauchi State, Haj. Sa’adatu Bello Kirfi has tendered her resignation from her appointment in the state executive council.
Her resignation comes barely 24 hours after her father, Alh. Muhammadu Bello Kirfi was removed as the Wazirin Bauchi.
Sa’adatu’s notified the government about her resignation in a letter dated Wednesday, January 4, 2023, addressed to the Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed through the Secretary to the State Government (SSG).
Recall the senior traditional title holder and member of the Emirate Council, Bello Kirfi, was sacked for being disrespectful to the Governor, Bala Mohammed.
A letter addressed to Mr Kirfi, who is a known ally of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, by the Emirate Council’s spokesperson, Shehu Mudi, stated that he was sacked for being disloyal and disrespecting the governor.
Mr Kirfi was also stripped of his position as the Wazirin Bauchi, a title reserved for the Emir’s top administrative adviser and a kingmaker.
This was the third time a traditional ruler was sacked or suspended for an alleged rift with the governor.

Bloody day in Delta as gunmen kill councillor, others
A fresh gale of killings is rocking Sapele town in Delta State with the gruesome murder of the deputy leader of Warri North council and a PDP top shot, Bigha Grikpa, and three others on Wednesday.
Grikpa was shot dead by gunmen who stormed the Mission Road area of the town in the early hours.
A source said the politician, like other victims, was probably at the wrong place at the wrong time.
The killings came amidst the recovery of the bloated remains of two young boys, who had been declared missing two days earlier.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Edafe Bright (DSP), who our reporter contacted, said he could not confirm the report, because he had “not heard anything about it”.
Several sources confirmed the report, and our reporter gathered that the hitherto sleepy town has been rocked by bloody cult gang wars and deadly killings in the last two years, with dozens of young men killed during the yuletide.
The bloody Wednesday’s victims included Mathew Ekiopa, who ran a thriving boutique at Lexi Junction, and his sales girl, simply identified as Blessing.
