New Sarkin Fulani Turbaned In Imo, Charged To Ensure Peace
The new leader of Fulani in Imo State (Sarkin Fulani), Alhaji Abdulahi Umaro, has been turbaned with a charge to ensure peace among the cattle headers and farmers in the state.
The Sarkin Hausawa and Northern Community leader of Imo State, Alhaji Auwal Babar Sulaiman said that the essence of the coronation of the new leader was to fill the space created by the death of the former leader Late Mallan Yahaya Haruna.
He said that the entire Northern community and the Fulani residents in the state resolved to turban the new Fulani leader to enable him to tackle the lingering issue between the cattle headers and the farmers in the state amicably.
He said: “The Fulani resident in Imo State cannot be allowed to be without having somebody or a leader who will caution them when they detail or mediate into a Fulani and For affairs.”
Alhaji Sulaiman said that the entire Northern Community agreed and accepted that the leader who can be trusted be selected because of his track record.
Dismissed Zamfara Emir dies in Dubai
The dismissed Emir of Zurmi in Zamfara State, Abubakar Atiku, has died in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.
Atiku died in a private hospital in Abu Dhabi following a protracted illness.
A family member, Sani Zurmi, informed The PUNCH that the remains of the deceased were yet to be brought to Nigeria for burial.
“His remains are still in Dubai due to non-availability of plight to bring the deceased back home for burial”. Said Zurmi.
The PUNCH reports that the deceased was dethroned along with the Emir of Dansadau, Husaini Umar on April 27, 2021, for allegedly aiding banditry in their respective emirates.
NYSC member killed in Adamawa lodge
A member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Samaila Awudu, has been killed at his lodge around the Adamawa State capital, Yola.
The incident occurred at the Yolde Pate NYSC Corpers’ Lodge in Yola South Local Government Area where the 28-year-Old Samaila, said to be from Taraba State, met his end.
A corps member, who witnessed the incident, said when the killers arrived at the lodge, they locked up all the doors of the other corps members before going to Samaila’s room.
The witness who objected to being named, said, “They used an axe in cutting him and thought he was dead. Maybe they were hired killers, we don’t know. Right now we are all living in fear.”
He was rushed to the Federal Medical Center (FMC), located within Yola South, where he later died.
