Muslim-Muslim Ticket: Orji Kalu’s Community Disowns Him + Gov Okowa Breaks Silence After Nomination As VP

Constituents disown Orji Kalu for advocating Muslim/Muslim ticket
Senate Chief Whip and Senator representing Abia North Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has been disowned by his constituents for asking the All Progressive Congress, APC, presidential candidate, Alhaji Ahmed Bola Tinubu, a Muslim, to pick a fellow Muslim as his running mate.

Kalu who insisted that there was nothing wrong if Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, runs a Muslim-Muslim ticket, said that it would be politically naive for Tinubu, a minority Muslim from the South-West to choose a minority Christian from the North as his running mate.
But in a swift response, his constituents dismissed Kalu’s remarks as “shameful and disappointing”, saying he only spoke for himself and his pocket.

Responding, the paramount traditional ruler of Abiriba ancient kingdom, HRM Eze Kalu Kalu Ogbu (Enachoken), said the comment by the former Governor if truly he made such a remark was “strange, unbelievable and illogical”.
He argued that the religious plurality of Nigeria did not favour a joint ticket of same religion, hence, anybody suggesting otherwise should be disregarded.

2023 Presidency: Peter Obi, Kwankwaso will lose – Adeyanju
Popular Activist and Political Commentator, Deji Adeyanju has stated that the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi and his counterpart in the NNPP, Rabiu Kwankwaso will lose the 2023 presidential elections.

Adeyanju, in a statement on social media on Thursday disclosed that had both men merged to form an alliance, they would have stood a chance of winning.
He pointed out that it was now ‘too late’ for any merger to happen adding that they will lose the exercise because none of them can independently win.
He wrote; “It is now impossible for Peter Obi & Kwankwaso to merge because tomorrow is INEC deadline & I don’t see anyone of them winning alone.”

“Without strategic alliances, the election will be between the twin evil of APC & PDP. Politics is a science, you can actually measure success rate.”
“Take it to the bank, 2023, will be between APC & PDP if Peter Obi, Kwankwaso, Sowore and others don’t form alliances. None of them stand any single chance without an alliance.”
“Insults by their supporters cannot make any of them president. I will be here to say I TOLD YOU SO.”

Okowa reacts to emergence as Atiku’s running mate, makes Pledge
Governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has issued a statement on his emergence as the running mate of PDP’s 2023 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Okowa expressed thanks to God for rare privilege of being a Vice Presidential candidate. He also called on Nigerians to join hand and support them in 2023.

The statement read; “I thank God for this rare privilege, and I appreciate our flagbearer, His Excellency, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and other leaders of our Party for this great honour.”

“I pledge to join hands with His Excellency, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the leaders and stakeholders of our party, and all patriotic Nigerians to rescue our country from the precipice.”

The taciturn politician was up against the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, who was also eyeing the prized seat. Wike was initially recommended for the position by a 19-man committee setup by the party to oversee the selection process.

This result reportedly did not go down well with the leadership of the party who then opted for Okowa.
Speaking at the announcement ceremony on Thursday, Chairman of the Party, Iyorchia Ayu revealed that the decision for Okowa was made by Atiku himself after due consultations with all the relevant stakeholders of the party.
