APC may unveil Tinubu’s running mate Wednesday, party focuses on North-East
There are indications that the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, may unveil his running mate on Wednesday.
The PUNCH learnt that Tinubu would conclude consultations with the party’s stakeholders, including governors on Tuesday and would announce his running mate on Wednesday.
It was also learned that the APC governors and other stakeholders had agreed that the North-East should produce the party’s vice-presidential candidate.
Sunday PUNCH had reported that Tinubu, who emerged the APC presidential candidate at the party’s primary on Wednesday, might settle for a Muslim as his running mate.
According to the report, those who are being tipped for the slot include the Kebbi State Governor, Atiku Bagudu; a former Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima; the Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje and the Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong.
It was gathered that the North-East might produce the running mate, while the position of the Senate President would go to the South-East and North-West would produce the House of Representatives Speaker.

2023: Nnamani, Anyim, Ihedioha emerge front runners for Atiku’s VP slot mate
In the battle to save and restore the dignity of Nigerians, in the case of the South-East geopolitical zone in 2023, PDP leaders from the zone said is a critical issue that must be handled with caution.
Also, the South-South Zone has a claim to the position of vice president in 2023, which is believed to be the pillar of PDP at least since 2015 when the party lost the center. Ex-Presidential contender, Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and Senator Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State are said to be in contention for the number two position. The South-South is an established home for the PDP.
However, for the politics of inclusiveness, they said it is imperative to give the vice presidential slot to the South-East Zone.
In the south East Zone, former Governor of Enugu State and current Senator representing Enugu East Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani is among the top contenders for Atiku Abubakar’s running mate.
Others from the South-East being mentioned as likely running mates to Atiku are former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim, and former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chief Emeka Ihedioha.
